Note: Most modern computers do NOT need USB drivers, but follow the links below to confirm.
- Connect the USB cable to both the SPROG and the computer
- Connect the SPROG to the power supply and power it up.
SPROG Nano uses USB power, and has no external power supply. It must be used with a track power booster such as SBOOST. When first connected the red USB light will flash.
A SPROG II or SPROG3 is not a bus powered USB device. It must be connected to
a power supply in order to install the drivers and during use.
The SPROG came with the power cable connected correctly, but if removed check these connections:
For black power cables the wire with the white stripe goes to the +V terminal, and the other wire goes to the 0V terminal.
For our 15V 3A power supplies, the red wire goes to the +V terminal, and the plain white or black wire goes to the 0V terminal.
For other voltage power supplies with blue and brown wires, the brown wire goes to the +V terminal, and the blue wire goes to the 0V terminal.
The SPROG red power LED should illuminate. The USB light will indicate message traffic, and will flicker during USB messages.
On newer SPROG models, the USB light will be mostly on, but on older models it will be mostly off.
